First Home Owners Grant

What is the First Home Buyers Grant?
The First Home Owners Grant is designed to assist first home buyers in offsetting the Goods and Services Tax on the purchase of their first home or building.

How To Apply For the Grant
If you are using a mortgage broker they will automatically submit your FHOG application with your loan application. You however can submit your application directly through the State Government, applications lodged with financial institutions will have the funds made available for settlement. If you are building they will be available after the first draw down.

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be Australian Citizens or permanent residents who are buying or building their first home.

To apply for assistance neither applicant nor their partners must have owned a home prior to july 1st 2000, either in a joint situation or with anyone else.

Neither applicant or their partners must have owned a house after july 2000.

The Grant must have previously never been claimed in order to qualify.

An eligible home will be situated in Australia and will be an established house or other suitable place of residence  like a  unit, or a flat for example.

The home purchased with the Grant funds must be occupied by the applicant for 12 months on completion of construction or settlement.

Applicants that are applying as a couple or joint partners only receive one payment of $7000  for a single property.
